"Your naked body should only belong to those who fall in love with your naked soul." --Charlie Chaplin in a letter to his daughter, Geraldine.
This quote is part of a longer letter that you can read on the internet if you just search under the quote. Evidently, the real letter was written by an Iranian journalist 30+ years ago--not Charlie Chaplin!

saw this quote just recently for the first time and immediately knew that this is another one of the horrendous misattributions. even though he got it on with half of hollywood, he was essentially a prude. and he'd never have written anything of the sort to his daughters and certainly not the one that was educated in a school run by nuns!
ReplyDeleteTell me about it! He could barely talk about sex with sons.
ReplyDeleteouuu , when I saw this as an Instagram post , it didn't quite fit . I didn't know enough about Chaplin to automatically say it wasn't a real quote from him , so I decided to do a little research on him . from reading about him , this quote didn't seem like something he would've said , but I'm no historian so I said "let me google the quote & see what comes up" . of course the first few were those quote websites , which did attribute it to Chaplin , but then I found this gem ! thanks for clearing that up .
