Marilyn Monroe (June 1, 1926 - August 5, 1962)

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Marilyn Monroe, a legend whose iconic image is easily on par with that of The Little Tramp.

Marilyn dated Charlie's eldest son, Charlie, Jr. in the late 1940s when she was still Norma Jean and visited Chaplin's home on Summit Drive in Hollywood. Charlie thought Norma Jean was beautiful and commended his son on his taste in women.

According to Jerry Epstein's Remembering Charlie, Marilyn was one of the many young actresses Charlie interviewed for the role of Terry in Limelight.

RIP Marilyn.
