Arriving at the ill-fated MONSIEUR VERDOUX press conference at the Gotham Hotel, NYC, April 12th, 1947

During the press conference, Charlie was asked mostly about his politics and patriotism and less about his film. Knowing what to expect, Charlie began the proceedings by inviting the journalists to "proceed with the butchery...fire ahead at this old gray head."
