The cover photo is a close-up of a portrait taken by James Abbe in 1922 for The Pilgrim. The same close-up is on the cover of the English & French editions of the book Chaplin In Pictures.

    It's so close-up it almost doesn't look like him. Those eyes! Looks like he has eye liner on one eye only.
