In 1931, during a party given by violinist Mischa Elman in France, Charlie & Chaliapin engaged in a role reversal exercise in which Charlie sang a group of Basque folksongs with a perfect accent, then Chaliapin did a pantamine routine about a girl trying to tie herself into a corset.
