Chaplin with visitors on the set of The Kid, 1920


The top photo is more commonly seen cropped, showing just Charlie. There is also a cropped version of the bottom photo in the Maurice Bessy book (pg. 62).

Charlie's guest is a man named Morris Greenhill from London.

  1. Fascinating to see London film manufacturer Morris Greenhill, and presumably, his wife Emily, daughter Vera, and son Bernard, on either side of Chaplin.
    Morris Greenhill was in New York to try to secure an overseas distribution deal for United Artists pictures. The Greenhills arrived in New York aboard the SS Lapland on 28th March 1920 and stayed at the Plaza Hotel.
