This film is noted for Charlie's female impersonation (which is flawless), but to me, one of the best things about it is the business at the beginning with Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. They will do a full-fledged pairing up two films later in The Rounders (Chaplin & Arbuckle appeared together in seven Keystones).

I love photos of Charlie with make up but with out the stache - very adorable
ReplyDeleteI love this movie ! I like to see real Charlie's facial expressions, not hidden behind his moustache
ReplyDeleteTrivia point:
ReplyDeleteI watched this the other day and noticed a light colored paint stain on the back of Charlie's coat. I think it might have occurred during the shooting of one of the scenes when he played an artist painting a portrait in "A Face on the Barroom Floor" because I believe I saw the same stain in that film as well as in "Recreation". It appears they had to make do for a couple of films given a rapid shooting schedule and limited wardrobe.
