There are other behind-the-scenes shots taken this same day on the factory set & the factory boss' office. It's hard to tell where they are filming here though.
This dissertation for a Louisiana college credit had some marvelous insights into Chaplin vs progress. I remember the scene where Paulette and he are living in the rustic shack by a dirty stream and he gets up for work in the morning now re-employed at the factory on the horizon just yards away. The juxtaposition of opposite ideas is there. It is poetry portrayed by the lens. Emerson to Chaplin : By an essayist reviewing modernism and the transcendentalists. Well worth reading the chapters that concentrate Chaplin and his film era contemporaries. http://9nature.com/american-transcendental-vision-emerson-to-chaplin-download-w255/
