There is a scene where Chaplin is showing off Jackie Cooper for the First National theater owners at the studio and Jackie is dancing. You can see Lita at age 12 sitting on the ground watching the little show. It is so prophetic how she played the vamp in the dream scene and how Chaplin/Charlie pursued her in the scene and in real life four years later when casting for the Gold Rush. One will never know how much chasing Chaplin did and how much pushing Lita and her mother did.
What a sweet-looking photo of her. She did indeed have beautiful eyes.

Was she an only child?
ReplyDeleteYes, Lita was an only child.
DeleteHer look reminds me of May Reeves. Their stature was similar too.

ReplyDeleteI found out the other day that I do not only share Lita's last name, her REAL last name, but we share a birthday as well. (April 15th). Weird.
