Chaplin rehearses a scene for THE GREAT DICTATOR

Sydney Chaplin is standing at far right. Sydney, who had been absent from Hollywood since 1927, came to work for Charlie on the set of The Great Dictator. Although he was never given a title or had any real authority, it was Sydney who suggested Jack Oakie for the role of Benzino Napaloni.

    That little girl is one of my favorite parts of the entire movie because it is just so random and adorable. I love it when I see Charlie playing with the children on his set or the kids that come to visit him. Its sweet.

    I didn't know Syd came back to the USA to work. Was his legal problem with a young lady in America or Europe ?
