Illustrated magazine, September 20th, 1952 |
Most of these dates are a little off. The photo from 1918 was actually taken c. 1910-11 & the photo from 1926 is really 1921. I think 1947 is actually 1952. 1913 should be 1914 and 1916 should be 1915. Yes, I'm a little obsessed with dates.
Me too. Also with getting the images right way around...1913, 1920 (1914, 1918).

Yep, I noticed that too--ugh!
DeleteSometimes you can tell by their shirt or jacket buttons. Men's clothes always button left over right,

1926 and 1937 are flipped as well.
Deletenevermind. '37 is actually correct.
Deletego to bed, rita, you're cross-eyed.
I think Phil mentioned the 1926 photo above, but referred to it as the 1920 photo (I believe it's actually from 1921).
DeleteCharlie looked his best during the late 1910s, 1920s and early 1930's.
ReplyDeletein short: DUUUUUUUDE, DO YOUR RESEARCH!
ReplyDeletethings like that bub me too. i actually shouted a couple of times at the bessy-book for the same reason.
I agree about the Bessy book. A great book, but a tough go for the date-obsessed. The picture placement in that book is very odd as well. Just when you think you're looking at pictures from 1940, there's a picture of Charlie from the 1920s.
