Did he REALLY pay the cost until the baby turned 21? I still find it unbelievable the judge made him do that despite the blood type evidence proving he was not the father. I can't find anything out about Carol Ann Berry either. Likely she changed her name, I guess.
A few years ago, I came across an article that included comments from an interview with Carol Ann's younger half-brother. He said that Charlie did make the payments until she was 21 (Josephine Chaplin said in an interview that her father was paying for Carol Ann while they were living in Switzerland). As of 2009, Carol Ann was still alive (her name was changed when she was a child). Here is the article. The comments about Carol Ann are toward the end. There is also some information about Joan's life after the trial, although not much. No one seems to know what became of her after the 1950s or even when she died.
