Chaplin met May Reeves not long after these photos were taken. Both Robinson and Evelinoff would eventually lose their jobs because of the Reeves affair.

If you look at the background (and I am sure you have already done that...), you can see that the photos were taken the same day as the photos published in the April 1931 issue of SUR LA RIVIERA (http://www.discoveringchaplin.com/search/label/Frank J. Gould). D.
