Charlie and Paulette, c.1939

A caption for a similar photo taken at the same time claims this is from the premiere of Gone With The Wind. I'm not sure if that's true but it's certainly from that time period.

    1. I thought gold lame too. Yes, it looks like she's wearing the brooch.

  2. I think I saw that pic labled with a tag saying it was the GWTW premier also. I like the lame' dress. It looks very Edith Head. She designed the clothing for the 1939 ( also) film The Women. I read the two women, Goddard and Head, did not admire each other.
I saw part of Diary of a Chambermaid. I think Paulette was indulging herself in the southern belle regalia she had been cheated out of wearing as Scarlet. She was a blonde there.

    1. You should see her in "Reap The Wild Wind" from 1942. Someone termed it a GWTW of the sea. The similarities are definitely there.

  3. The photo would have been from Gone with the wind premiere they are both wearing the same outfits as I have seen in other photos from that night. But as usually Paulette looks stunning and Charlie looks Handsome........such a good looking couple :)

  4. I meant to put in my last post, Why did Paulette go to the premiere? I mean wouldn't she have felt uncomfortable after losing the leading role or did she have mutual feelings towards her not being in the film

    1. If this is indeed the GWTW premiere (I don't always believe internet captions), Paulette being there just means she was a good sport.

  5. If it was a GWTW premiere, my guess is it was the LA premiere and not the world premiere in Atlanta
