"Alfred" Austin = Albert Austin. Goodwins worked as an actor and press agent for Chaplin.

  1. Does that say "doping out a gag" in the shots with the violin and with his feet up? I can't enlarge it any more than one time, and it's a D at the beginning of the word.

  2. Yes! That's exactly what it says. I looked it up and evidently "dope" also means to "figure out." That was new to me!
