  1. I'm pretty sure that Falkenburg is on the left. The man looks familiar but I've never been able to place him.

  2. Because of the rings on both hands, I think that might be Reginald Gardiner. I'm not sure that one of those women is really Jinx Falkenburg.

  3. My second guess is that the man looks very much like Victor Sassoon (and he too wore rings on both hands).

    1. I think it's definitely Victor Sassoon! He visited Hollywood in early 1941--around the same time CC was seeing Jinx.

There are also pictures of him on the set of TGD a couple of years before. Looks like the same man to me:

The woman in black looks a little like Merle Oberon, who had been a lover of Sassoon's. She also parted her hair in the middle. It might not be her. Just a guess.

  4. When I first looked at him, I thought it was Walt Disney. But I think he's too old to be Disney in 1941. Other than that I have no idea.

  5. Yes, I used the same (flipped) TGD photo to compare ears... I love that kind of detective job!

  6. Jinx Falkenburg was the Chaplin’s opponent in Pacific-Southwest Tennis Championship in Los Angeles, September 19th 1941. This picture was taken at the championship’s closing ceremony. They had an encounter in 1938. Jinx was Paulette Goddard’s closer friend for many years.
The man on the left is Sir Victor Sassoon ;)
