      I believe their relationship began sometime around 1917. Dagmar claims Charlie was in love with her when he married Mildred Harris, and told her with tears in his eyes about his marriage plans. Their romance resumed after his divorce. You can read more about their relationship in Dagmar's autobiography, "First Person Plural".
