  1. For a person who always dressed warmly because he was easily chilled, Charlie sure spent a lot of time by the ocean. I have lived partially in Calif and then in Fla. Our Pacific coast ocean waters are COLD as those of the N. Atlantic. I imagine the Riviera with a more shallow rise was warm though. So many times when I see Charlie in photos he is by the sea. And this is going waaaaaay back. Possibly in his day it was considered healthier to be near sea than the congested city after the rise of industrialism.
